Tenore verdiano

Mario Del Monaco has been a Verdian tenor par excellence.
His interpretations in the operas by Giuseppe Verdi found maximum congeniality, which, beyond his colour of a bronzean voice, was due to robust centres, oustanding and ringing top notes, in short, a true “body” of a full voice suited to many roles in Verdi. Ernani, Riccardo, Manrico, Radames, Alvaro and finally Otello have found the ideal interpreter in him.

On 7 March 1951, at La Scala of Milan, on the occasion of Verdi's fiftieth commemorations, Mario Del Monaco was “consecrated” by the Maire of Busseto, “The best Verdian interpreter”
